False friends

A false friend is an English word that looks similar than another one in Spanish, but their meaning is different.

Some important false friends that make us having mistakes when we speak English are:

1. Bookstore (librería) and library (biblioteca).
2. To have a cold (estar constipado) and constipated (estreñido).
3. Embarrasing (vergonzoso) and pregnant (embarazada).
4. To remember (recordar) and to record (grabar).
5. To insert (introducir) and to introduce (presentar).
6. Rope (cuerda) and clothes (ropa).
7. Carpet (alfombra) and folder (carpeta).
8. To envy (envidiar) and To send (enviar).
9. Exit (salida) and Succes (éxito).
10. Sane (cuerdo) and healthy (sano).

What about the following false friends? Do you know their meaning?

• Support / soportar.
• Vase / Vaso.
• Realize / Realizar.
• Nude / Nudo.
• Fabric / fábrica.
• Actual / actual.

Imagine you are in front of two doors, one of which leads to heaven and the other one  leads to hell. At each door there is a guard. One of these guards always says the truth, but the other one always lies....

Imagine you have to choose one of the doors but firstly you are allowed to ask a question to guess which is the right door. Which question would you make to one of them?
